While Old Men Emphasize Negatives

I don't really know what this is but I did it and it exists so ya.

Maybe I'm just an old fashioned sexist at heart

Medieval punnary

I remember playing a game on an old mobile which was basically just a series of choices. You picked which buildings to build and then at the end of a certain amount of turns you were attack. If you won you continued but your dimese was eventually.

I'm gonna remake it and then maybe build on the concept, but as usual all I've got is a picture right now.

Textual adventure of the ascii kind

I got me this idea for a text adventure game. I plan to work on it in some point in the future but I have made a title screen!

It's about this guy who really likes trees and whats to grow up to be a auctioneer. I'm not sure how the story is gona tie together but with characterisation like that it basically writes itself!

(That's not really the story, stop being silly)

A time for adventure

Pixel art is a lot like a woman, you have to take it slow and steady and only use flat colours. Unless you want to do shading and that just disgusts me and I'm going to have to ask you to leave now.

Company Logo Idea #1

If I'm ever gonna have a logo for a company, it is almost definitely, a possibility, that it could maybe be, by chance made in paint.

A girl can always hope I suppose.

Kimard: The Rising Returning Revival of the Ranger

He is back in new 2012 graphical glory, but he needs a new coat, and to lose the mask

I just couldn't lego

It's back people, except not really. But it looks way better then before and took me about 1/100 of the time.

Maybe it will be finished someday in the future when I get Photoshop again.

And everything is a place holder, textures are just flat colors. I've also improved at mapping so things should look prettier this time around.

My Almost People Sausages

Got the map generation to print out loads of indivual tiles to a window which looks, well, pretty mathematical. I have each tile having a black boarder right now but can also change it to no border, the question is which looks better?

Borders give a better idea of where the player is clicking but no borders makes it look like an atrai game. Is that a pro or a con, well i'm just not sure. Maybe I'll just let you switch between them.

Game idea #3 update

I have actually started working on this one. So I've go basic map generation working so far and it's looking pretty snazzy. First of all it creates this little text map using the random world generator.

Next I need to make it pass it over to the GUI which will draw it onto the screen in an isometric fashion. And you should get something that looks like this. (Bottom right is finished version of the map above)

Next up is player placement and tile values and details. Then probably some GUI work so I can make something to start testing it. I already have it set up so that players can change the generation rates and the map can be any size greater then 10 so testing is important since there's only so much that I can do.

Guild Wars Retrospective

Since the release of Guild Wars 2 is nearing I decided to go back and finish everything left to do in Guild Wars. I finished the quests that tie the first game with the second and finished adding everything to my hall of monuments. Now I just want to run through my experience while it's still freshish in my mind.

First lets have a look at this right here.

If you take out the amount of time I spent AFK I have played the game for about 35 continuous days. Most of which with my main character. Since I started playing in 2006 it would mean I have played the equivalent to 30mins a day since I started.

Here's my character Kimard Bowen towards the end of pre searing

It really doesn't feel like I started playing it 6 years ago. I still remember my first days and meeting people and getting everything wrong because I didn't understand the game mechanics. Finally leaving pre searing and seeing just how big the world was, it was like nothing I have experienced since. I remember runners to yaks bend and how it took me weeks to reach there and I was less then 1/10th of the way through the main story never mind the whole game. I remember a level 6 warrior dancing in Asclaon city dressed in full 15k armor and wondering what the hell was going on. I remember actually grouping with people because the henchmen just weren't enough to beat the majority of the missions.

Joining my first guild and making great friends with the only other 4 people in it was one of the highlights. None of us knew anything about guilds and when we found out about guild halls we all started chipping in. But we were 600g short. I was out fighting monsters trying to farm that 600g and then I got a silver dye drop and everyone was going crazy waiting to see our new guild hall. The guild leader took me with him to look at the guild halls since I gave most of the money to purchase it and we picked the factiony looking one. It was really late at night and everyone was staying on just to see what it was like. The we had a dance party on the boat. Good times had by all.

Times in our small guild were good. I was stinking rich (well more so then everyone else I knew and didn't realize people had 1000 times what I did) and stared running a lotto giving out 1k to a winner every week. Before this I was made an officer and I remember the other 2 officers who were friends in real life talking telling me that they had talked on the phone earlier that day and decided to make me an officer too. What a weird thing for 2 guys talking about a random guy they knew from a game.

Kimard during the best days of my Guild Wars playing.

Slowly the others stopped playing and finally they all left the guild and it was just me left. I stayed in the guild for a while (no idea what the guilds tag was but I think it may have been STAR or something similar). I also took a break from Guild Wars shortly after they left and didn't play again till the release of nightfall. I joined a few more guilds but never really got involved besides helping with missions and a little bit of PvP.

Major points since that include a guy running the last 2 missions of Nightfall for me for free, the eye of the north preview weekend and finally getting my Norn armour. And getting to 30 points in my hall of monuments. Clearing almost all dungeons in easy mode and over half in hard mode. Plus vanquishing all of the Norn areas and a handful of others.

I did some title hunting too for a while but it was just a way to pass the time. Here's what I had, some of it more impressive then others.

Surprisingly getting the norn title to level 9 was some of the most fun I had, with a few more dungeons I could probably get it to level 10 but there's not much point anymore. Skill hunter is the least fun thing, took ages and then I just gave up on getting the rest of them, took much work for too little gain.

Kimard at the end of my playing, and how he looked for more then 25% of the time I played.

So that's it basically, the end of a game I've played for 6 years. Looking forward to bringing Kimard back in Guild Wars 2, and then beating the whole game in a week. But I'm gonna miss it.

This one's on the house

I can't think of anymore house based puns. I really need to reevaluate my life.

YUGIOH

I'm gonna make this thing and then hang it on a wall somewhere, preferably inside.

Fort place

I built myself one of those things that have walls and towers and are fort shaped and it is quite nice.

Summer time

Yes it's summer time and you know what that means? Sitting inside playing games and reading books thats what.

Game idea #3

It's basically just mini civilization.

This is how the random map generation would work. I'd probably assign numbers to each of the tiles and make sure that they follow the rules of the tiles around them e.g. desert can't be beside fresh water.

Also the map size would be scalable to support longer games and more nations. So something like this. Plus an idea of what fog of war would look like.

Ice to see you

No it's not a slushie. A slushie is ice with flavor added, this a frozen fizzy drink and it's just delightful. Except that they cost twice as much as they should because they only sell them at the cinema.

And they have changed machines 3 times in the last 2 months! They used to be fanta frozen, and then just ice blast. Now it's tango ice blast. They really need to decide on who makes these things.

Arrow there

There's gonna be some arrows in this game and you may or may not be able to light them on fire by touching them, thus creating clever little puzzle moments when you go "aha!" only to realize that it wasn't actually the solution and you've just died.

Also that pizza you had in the oven is burnt and the dog has wet himself on the carpet.

A new post?

Yes it is and a picture too!

It's the title screen for a version of hangman I plan on making eventually.

By eventually I really mean eventually.

Eventually.

I really shelled out for easter

Yes I know, that pun was just egg-cellent. It really egg-ceed my egg-spectations. Egg cetera, egg cetera.

But really it was a big egg. And now the word egg doesn't look right to me anymore.

Scene test 7

First mock up of what the game screen would look like. There may or may not be a hud, I have yet to decide.

Nightman

Champion of the anti sun? The moon?

Mega man? Never heard of it and I really don't see how it looks anything like it so you just be quiet you.

Don't you dare go and Google the sprite sheet! I drew the left most guy first on a whim and the realized how close he looked to mega man so drew him over the run animation to see how it would look.

Music band players

Went to one of those musician muscial get togethers where you have to give your coat to a person in exchange for a piece of paper.

What they don't want you to know is that you can use the piece of paper to trade back for your coat when you want to leave so that you don't have to walk home with no coat and then explain to your mother where it has gone. No getting into trouble for me!

Mein Kraft

I bet no ones ever made that joke before! I must be some kind of guy who tells jokes for a living that may or may not have a another job to support my joke telling at the venues in which I tell the jokes!

Stairs make good looking missing blocks.

Backwards grounds

Lets take a look at how my background from 2 years ago and 1 year ago compare to the background I have now.

2 year on the left and 1 year on the right.

Why was Defcon there for so long? I played it 4 times and haven't touched it since. Interesting but not really.

And here's my current one. Seems that I'm playing less games but really games just all activate on steam and origin now so no more need for icons. If anything I'm playing more games, MORE GAMES!

Scene test 6

Another one because I've added at least 2 new things! Blogger needs to stop resizing things so they look ugly!

It's pretty clear that the chest doesn't fit in at all so I'm gonna have to rearrange the pixels.

No one ever suspects

Friends come and go but butterfly's, they're forever.

Not sure how to incorporate them, maybe make them attracted to your flame like moths and you have to lead them to the exit? Or maybe they are just a kinda bonus objective like bandages in super meat boy.

I'm not too sure about the colours but they do kinda fit with the theme.

Is that a pixel art log in your pants? Or are you just happy to see me?

Because I hope it's neither.

After months of putting it off I finally drew the log, but I'm still not happy with it so my go through several change.

It's really hard to make objects that fit with the rest of the style because they almost always seem too flat.

And a scene test entitled "A forbidden love".

Business card

So I had this great idea to make a business card that looked like it was a notepad window. Genius I taught, this will earn you the respect of all your admirers!

But than quick Google search and it has been done before, bastards.

Well it's still cool so I'm gona use it regardless even though I don't and probably will never need a business card.
