Ya, you heard me.
So, as you can see my chest has gone through a few redesigns. First it was too 2D. Then it was too pseudo 3D much like the game Space Harrier. Finally I basically ripped off the Link to the Past chests and called it a day.
Also the colours, they were all wrong. First too bright and clean. Than dark enough but still too clean and finally nice and noisy but I'm still not sure this is right. It seems too noisy like it's trying to show light that the world doesn't show itself.
At least I'm finally close to the chest that I want and I didn't have to alter my body in anyway beside adapting a more healthy and full diet.
Made it bigger too because it looks insignificant when it's that small (no offense). Here's one of those moving picture shows that you kids like so much these days.
Level design
Putting up these old levels I made in the hammer editor for the source engine before I lose them somewhere. Still have more pictures to take before I get rid of the .bsp and .vmf files.
Lots of the textures in these pictures were also created by me but I can't remember which ones besides all of the ones in the middle picture.

Another game idea.
So it's a grid based game where the grid start off small but gets larger as you complete levels. The idea is to kill a fungus that is constantly multiplying before it takes over 90% of the board. As you complete levels the fungus gets faster and different types start to come into play and they all have different affects/abilities.
Shouldn't be too hard to code and have already got a very basic version of it using my roguelike as a base.
Now I just need to actually start making these games.

Roguelike
I have expanded the roguelike I was working on to include:
Thanks to a .jar I found on the internet I am able to mimic the normal c++ terminal window style view, it's 100 times better.
I shall post a picture later.
- Randomly generated levels
- Much larger levels
- Enemy AI
- Collision detection
- And ASCII graphics

JIM
I am to commence going to the gym on this Monday and shall keeping going 3 times a week till Christmas. I currently weigh 69KG and am 6 feet tall. By the end I plan on being much lighter and much taller so hopefully this JIM person knows what he's doing.
Although judging from the picture of him I've found he hasn't been exercising as much as I've been lead to believe.
Update: I went and didn't realize there would be so much exercise involved so I stopped after a week, good times.

Computer is finished
Look at this thing, it's like some kind of work of art that you would stare at for hours trying to understand only to have a porter come up to you at closing time and explain that you have just been looking at a blank wall for 12 hours and you need to leave as your dog has died next to you and is starting to leave an odor.
Than after coming home you try and explain to your family how the dog has died only for them to inform you that they've never had a dog and aren't your family as you've gone into the wrong house by mistake.
Or maybe it just looks like an average computer with a little blue ring on the front? But what do I know.

Pizza factory?
This is the most fascinating vending machine I have ever encountered in my life. Form what I can conclude after inserting money and hearing laughing that may or may not have come from the machine there is a dwarf inside the machine who works and lives within. Either that or a child but that would breach several labor laws.
And the pizza's don't come out too bad so kudos to you dwarf community way to not let your height hold you back!

Another game idea!
So this one is about tribes of people that inhabit a land where there is darkness for over 20 hours a day. Because of this the tribes people are some of the only non nocturnal creatures that inhabit the land. This makes them easy pray for night dwelling animals.
The tribes people have a means of protecting themselves from these creatures and it's through stones called Loi. These stones are left over pieces of a temple the stood in the middle of the continent. 24 columns stand in the centre of the land that each held a single stone. Ages have past and the stones have grown weaker so they can no longer keep back the darkness and tribes have resorted to wars over possession of them.
The last shaman is roaming the lands trying to unite the tribes and renew the Loi's power but he is often met with opposition. The player is on the council of one of the smaller tribes when the shamans comes to reason with them. It is completely up to the player how they treat the impending threat.
Here's some examples:
1. The player sides with the shaman and uses diplomacy to get the other members of the council to join with him. He than does the same for the other tribes traveling with the shaman doing whatever he can to help reunite the Loi.
2. The player is against the shaman and orders him killed or imprisoned thinking him a fool. He than prepares his tribe for war to reclaim the stones from the other tribes so that his village will be protected from the darkness.
3. The player uses a mix of both diplomacy and war to reclaim the stones and destroys them as they were tearing his people apart.
There is a huge amount of different approaches that the player can use to come to the conclusion that he thinks best and every decision he makes will actually have a large impact on the world.

Lovecraft
Just finished this book and wow it's long. I know it's a collection of short stories but took me nearly 4 months to read!
He says things can't be described too much "The horror could not be described", "So terrible that mortal words cannot describe", "So horrifying that he couldn't begin to describe" and than he goes on to describe every detail of the floor their standing on!
But ya good good, bit heavy though, literally.
My work
Robots. Robots? Robots!
What do we have here?
Well look at what showed up in the post today. Just 36 hours after I ordered it no less!
Plus it was made only last month so all the flaws that other version have are completely gone wooo!
That is 23 inchs of pure IPS goodness. Glad I didn't go with the 24inch because this is pretty huge as it is.
Now just to get the actual computer and put it to good use.
It lives!
Blobs of goo
Little slime creature I made for Ignis Solus.
All he wants is a hug but unfortunately he's made of goo and you're made of fire so you'll kill him if you touch him. Plus he won't attack you at all so might be an interesting mechanic.
How could you kill something with eyes like that? You're a monster!
He just wanted someone to love.

Water you looking at?
Gotta get this off my chest
Chest I made for Ignis Solus, looks a little funny when placed in a scene so will probably have to change it. Think it's because the pixels of the characters are four times as big so might have to rethink the whole chest. Think the colours are too bright. Need to dull it down.
And the scene so you can see for yourself. Looks out of place with the ground too so maybe it just needs more colours.

Water you waiting for?
Look water, it's blue like everything else I've made because this game is now blue tinted.
And a tile test because you need a tile test. And reusing the same gradient even if the lighting makes no sense. Might redo the colours as it's a bit bright and doesn't really fit with the dirt.

Never did the animation because I didn't feel like it and haven't picked an engine because I just wanna draw. Wanna do wood next which in all likelihood means I'll do something totally different.
More Ignis Solus again!
Made some simple text bubbles and a pixel text font. Not so sure about it having a dark outline though as it makes it blend into most of the backgrounds so might make it grey or something.
Text might also seem a little hard to read but you'll be much closer in game so should be easy enough on the eyes.
And here's another little scene mock up with the text bubbles included.
Programming joke #2
A woman is gathering up the ingredients to make herself a sandwich. She sees that there's no bread or eggs. So she asks her husband, a programmer:
"Could you run to the shop and get a loaf of bread? And if they have eggs, get 12!"
The programmer sets off to the shop. He returns with 12 loaves of bread.
The wife asks, "Why the hell did you get 12 loaves of bread?"
The programmer responded, "They had eggs."

Java battleships
College project I had to do in first year. Its basically a direct recreation of battleships in java. The whole thing is done recursively unlike everyone else's project which they did iteratively!
It also looks pretty when it's in motion because it flashes and causes seizures. You can even set the size of the board and everything. The AI just picks random positions on the broad for its shots unless it hits something in which case it stores where it hit and than tries the area around it unless the ship length is 1.

More Ignis Solus
Just some more art, this time a dirt texture which tiles pretty well. Yes I used just again I don't care!
Using a lot more colours than usual but I think 12 is low enough. Don't want to go over 16 as than things this small start to look very messy and cluttered.
Also a little scene test just to see how everything fits together. It should look much better after I factor light into the characters and make a proper background.
Thinking about using game maker for the engine, seems better than flash and much more stable/smooth too. Gona do a lot more research before I decide though. Next on the list though is animations for at least one of the flames.
Funny little side note, the dirt started off as an attempt to make a wooden log, don't know what happened but looks good now.
