More Ignis Solus again!

Made some simple text bubbles and a pixel text font. Not so sure about it having a dark outline though as it makes it blend into most of the backgrounds so might make it grey or something.

Text might also seem a little hard to read but you'll be much closer in game so should be easy enough on the eyes.

And here's another little scene mock up with the text bubbles included.

Programming joke #2

A woman is gathering up the ingredients to make herself a sandwich. She sees that there's no bread or eggs. So she asks her husband, a programmer:

"Could you run to the shop and get a loaf of bread? And if they have eggs, get 12!"

The programmer sets off to the shop. He returns with 12 loaves of bread.

The wife asks, "Why the hell did you get 12 loaves of bread?"

The programmer responded, "They had eggs."

Java battleships

College project I had to do in first year. Its basically a direct recreation of battleships in java. The whole thing is done recursively unlike everyone else's project which they did iteratively!

It also looks pretty when it's in motion because it flashes and causes seizures. You can even set the size of the board and everything. The AI just picks random positions on the broad for its shots unless it hits something in which case it stores where it hit and than tries the area around it unless the ship length is 1.

More Ignis Solus

Just some more art, this time a dirt texture which tiles pretty well. Yes I used just again I don't care!

Using a lot more colours than usual but I think 12 is low enough. Don't want to go over 16 as than things this small start to look very messy and cluttered.

Also a little scene test just to see how everything fits together. It should look much better after I factor light into the characters and make a proper background.

Thinking about using game maker for the engine, seems better than flash and much more stable/smooth too. Gona do a lot more research before I decide though. Next on the list though is animations for at least one of the flames.

Funny little side note, the dirt started off as an attempt to make a wooden log, don't know what happened but looks good now.

Quick title mock up for Ignis Solus. Lighting makes no sense whatsoever but I don't care.

Blue is a nice colour, think it represents both a dreamlike world and dark cave quite well so could work for both ideas.

Game idea #2

I've had another game idea!

It's called Ignis Solus. It's about these 3 flames where you play as sol. I haven't fully worked out the story but your either gona be the last 3 flames that are granted to dragons upon becoming adults. Along the way the other flames leave you for their dragons.

A few thousand years would pass before you find your dragon has been kept in his egg by some sorcerer or something. Than you have to find the egg and rescue it. When you finally save the egg you realize that it was too late and the dragon inside has died which brings to a close the age of dragons and begins the age of man. But you'll be almost dead due to the fight and die knowing you saved the egg and it will be all sad and stuff.

Or they are going to represent 3 children in comas and when the flames goes out the child passes away. They would all be in a shared dream like world and sol would be the only one that feels somethings not right.

Other than this I have some rough game play elements such as being able to burn wood and being able to climb walls that are not made of pure stone but that's as far as it goes now.

Pictures are of the title and the main characters that I drew whilst bored. All done by me in MS paint.

Random art #7

More flames!

This one is different, his name is Sol. He likes long walks on the beach, talking with people long into the night and is afraid of dying alone.

He's also blue because blue is blue.

Blue.
